**Under general direction, performs a variety of difficult and complex clerical, office and administrative services; to provide administrative assistance in assembling, compiling and summarizing information for departmental reports and projects; performs related duties as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Duties include, but are not limited to the following: performs a variety of difficult and complex clerical, office and administrative support services involving the use of word processing, composition, records management, organization and office management skills; may serve as secretary to the City Commission, Board, and/or Committee: preparing the agenda, taking minutes of the meeting, maintaining records and preparing correspondence; gathers, assembles, condenses and edits a variety of information and materials; independently composes routine correspondence and completes forms requiring independent judgement and discretion as well as the application of policy, procedure, or the interpretation of general direction; makes routine appointments and arrange conferences and/or meetings; may operate radio equipment, supervise, train and evaluate clerical staff; greets visitors in person and over the telephone; screens telephone and office callers and furnishes requested information; resolves problems and/or complaints and refers the caller when appropriate; handles controversial matters and/or affairs of a sensitive nature with confidentiality and tact; maintains confidentiality of sensitive issues; accurately maintains logs, account balances, ledgers and/or other internal referencing systems; may perform routine bookkeeping, assist in the preparation of the budget and inventory control; utilizes a variety of office equipment such as copiers, scanners, calculators and computers for the preparation, copying, transmittal, and storage of information; manages departmental administrative and/or program records systems; complies and maintains complex and extensive records and prepares reports; understands and carries out oral and written directions; assists the department head with routine personnel, budget, payroll and purchasing duties; when assigned, undertakes and carries forward a variety of projects requiring considerable independent judgment and initiative; performs other related duties as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required when operating any City vehicle.

Candidates must submit an application online, and attach a typing certificate with a net speed of 50 words per minute prior to the final filing date.
Internet or electronic typing certificates will not be accepted.
Certificates must be issued and dated within six (6) months of the final date of this recruitment from a government agency, temporary employment agency, business college, or public school system.
Failure to submit a typing certificate with the application by the final filing date will result in disqualification from the recruitment.

Applications will be screened for qualifications and appropriate background and only the most qualified will be invited to participate in the examination process.
Successful candidates must achieve a minimum passing score in each of the test components.

Candidates who do not pass will be disqualified and removed from the eligibility list.
