Job summary: This is a skilled level position involving the inspection, maintenance, repair and testing of emergency vehicles.
Able to read production orders with minimum amount of assistance and performs assembly and remount functions within the allotted time standards.
Assemble of roof frames and plexi parts in vehicles.
Responsibilities: Installation of all non-electrical interior/exterior components and hardware Remove lights, rear pumpers, corner guards and oxygen hoses Remove and installer cabinets Remove and install flooring Disconnect and re-install old chassis electrical/heating/air conditioning, trim and hardware Dismount body to chassis Mount new body to chassis Assemble and Install Plexi frames, parts Cut tracking from raw materials using different power tools Set work priorities to meet production goals as scheduled Assembles harnesses, cables, switch panels, circuit boards and a variety of different electrical components Troubleshoots all systems Meet all QA and QC standards for each task Function with minimal amount of supervision Report repetitive quality issues Close attention to detail Meet standards of safety and 5S Promote use and applications of Lean Manufacturing continuous improvement tools as part of the culture Be compliant with the rules of conduct and attendance per company policy Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Requirements (education, experience, travel, physical, work environment): High School diploma or equivalent; Technical training preferred 2-3+ years of experience in a Remount and Service environment required Industry experience repairing and maintaining emergency vehicles Certifications: (EVT) Emergency Vehicle Technician and/or ASE preferred but not required Excellent shop planning, written and oral communication skills Strong computer skills Must be familiar with all quality standards, and test protocols Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information Valid California Class C Driver’s License Must be able to prioritize work Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and layout and other written or verbal instructions presented in English Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to Management and other employees of the organization Ability to read and use a linear and other measuring devises Familiar with various tools; drills, screw gun, table saw, band saw and router Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards Ability to recognize quality expected and be able to reproduce it Position includes occasional, compensated travel according to department policies Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
