Job Description Job Description About the Role The Audio-Visual Technician will perform a variety of technical job functions connected to live virtual, remote, and in-person Huntington programs and events.
The A/V technician will support and assist with the operation and maintenance of installed Audio-Visual hardware and related components located in the Huntington art gallery spaces throughout the campus.
Such support will include replacing projector lamps, troubleshooting operation issues, adding or removing components, and other duties as assigned.
This is an on-call position with varying weekly hours.
Essential Functions (In-Person Events) Setup A/V equipment for meetings and various functions around the property.
Read and interpret room diagrams & setup sheets with respect to A/V setups.
Ensure setup and strike of A/V equipment is completed on-time for all events.
Assist with equipment setups and strikes as necessary in accordance with the schedule of events and in coordination with the Huntington Facilities crew.
Operate theatre lighting & sound systems to support events in the auditorium spaces.
Assist departmental planners and clients with A/V run-throughs to ensure comfort of presenters and provide basic instruction on the operation of A/V equipment, as needed.
Troubleshoot A/V equipment when there are technical issues or inquiries related to A/V equipment and report issues to Audio / Visual Manager.
Serve as dedicated on-site A/V technical support for internal and external events.
Assist with operation, maintenance, installation, and removal of in-gallery A/V equipment set up in Huntington art galleries.
Essential Functions (Virtual Events) Provide remote technical support for internal and external events such as lectures, conferences, classes, and all-staff meetings.
Support role responsibilities will include acting as Host and/or Co-host, managing and assisting with participant’s sound and video, coordinating recording and media playback, providing technical support, implementing 3rd party Closed-Captioning services, and additional responsibilities as determined.
Assist departmental planners and clients with A/V run-throughs to ensure comfort of presenters and provide basic instruction, as needed.
Troubleshoot and assist technical issues, when necessary.
Experience In-Person Events: At least two years of prior A/V professional experience in a university or venue setting.
Must have demonstrated experience with Audio-Visual hardware and software.
Must have skilled knowledge of audio patching, signal routing, and mixing.
Must have skilled knowledge of Mac and PC computers, presentation software and related A/V equipment including, but not limited to, projectors and screens, wired and wireless microphones, digital and analog audio mixing components, recording equipment, A/V control software, etc.
Basic knowledge of theatre and event lighting instruments, consoles, and interfaces.
Experience with video streaming, capture, and PTZ video camera operation is a plus.
Experience with in-gallery A/V installations, operations, and troubleshooting desired.
Virtual / Remote Events: Must have demonstrated experience and technical knowledge of both Mac and PC computers and associated audio, video, and presentation software.
Advanced experience and technical knowledge of Microsoft Teams and Zoom video meeting platforms.
Experience hosting, managing, and supporting Zoom Webinars.
Ability to troubleshoot technical problems and advise efficient and quick solutions.
Experience with technical coordination of virtual events, system troubleshooting, problem resolution and product evaluation.
Qualifications Demonstrated experience working and performing under pressure.
Ability to work in a team environment with patience and professionalism.
Positive client-oriented attitude and professional image.
Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
