We are seeking a qualified low voltage telecommunications Estimator and Quality Control Supervisor.
The successful candidate must be a proven self-starter with a strong technical background.
Minimum of 5 years experience estimating low voltage telecommunication projects, RCDD preferred.
\*\*MUST BE ABLE TO DO TAKEOFFS FOR FROM PLANS AND SPECS FOR LARGE PROJECTS\*\* *Job Requirements:* * Knowledge of industry standard construction means and methods.
* Ability to read and understand contract documents, drawings and specifications.
Understands building systems, construction materials, electrical, design and engineering concepts, and overall knowledge of construction, data & telecommunications infrastructure projects.
* Attend pre-bid meetings, perform site visits, conduct site surveys and document existing conditions.
* Perform take-offs using Bluebeam, submit RFQ’s and RFI’s, develop scope of work based on contract documents complete with scope inclusions, exclusions & classifications.
* Work in collaboration with a network of subcontractors and material suppliers, to guarantee best value pricing, timely estimates and quality of work available on every project.
* Review suppliers/subcontractors quotes for completeness with project plans & specifications.
* Review design options and recommend solutions based on cost, engineering quality and/or availability of materials.
* Establish preliminary construction schedule and duration.
* Familiar with various Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) construction methods * Structured cabling and wiring methods such as building conduit and riser cabling.
* Design, analysis, and recommendations relative to CAT 5, 5e, CAT 6, copper, fiber-optic, and coaxial cable installations.
* BiCSi and EIA / TIA design criteria and installation standards.
* Aerial, directional boring, backhoe, trenching, and plowing operations as well as digger and bucket truck operations.
* Maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and exceptional work ethic.
* 5-10 years successful experience as a commercial construction estimator with projects ranging from $250 thousand to $10 million.
*Estimator Responsibilities:* * Design and estimate IT projects * Direct and lead the work of technical staff * Evaluate new IT strategies and procedures * Maintain required project documentation * Serve as a liaison between business and technical staff *QUALITY CONTROL SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES* * Responsible for project kick-offs and any necessary job-walks as required on all projects.
* Attend Job-walks/Bid walks as assigned, either accompanied with a Project Manager/Sales or unaccompanied.
* Ensures quality control checks are completed satisfactorily; resolve before escalation to the customer problems as necessary.
* Review work and confirm its completion according to customer specifications.
* Responsible to document assigned projects and take before and after pictures.
Must conduct a complete and proper Quality Control check of the entire project scope and submit all pics and checklist information to Project Manager or a Direct Supervisor.
* Constantly seeking improvement in the installation process by improving the checklist against each project completed.
* Ensure conformance of the equipment list, drawings, and bid specifications.
* Supervise field installation.
Provide coordination with other trades for proper installation of our system.
* Supervise safe operation of unit.
Facilitate safety inspections.
Take reasonable and prudent actions to eliminate identified hazards.
Ensure employees receive appropriate safety training and foster a workplace safety culture.
*Qualifications:* * Previous experience in information technology or other related fields * RCDD Certification preferred * Strong analysis and critical thinking skills * Deadline and detail-oriented * Strong leadership qualities * Able to estimate large construction projects * Prior experience in access control and other systems is preferred * Advanced experience estimating low voltage projects is required * Ability to read blue prints and do takeoffs * Strong Computer skills MS Office (strong knowledge of Excel), Visio, Bluebeam, MS Project and CAD.
