Job Description and Duties Remote options available.
The Senior Architect will perform, but is not limited to, preliminary, triage, normal, expedite, and over-the-counter reviews of submittal documents pertaining to the architectural design and construction of healthcare facilities as required to ensure compliance with Title 24, California Code of Regulations (CCRs) (including all referenced codes and standards there within), the Office’s Policy Intent Notices, Code Application Notices and other applicable codes, guidelines and policies, and other reference materials.
Conducts field observations as directed.
Maintains current certification with appropriate licensing board.
This position is subject to the Form 700 Statement of Economic Interests filing requirements, which requires disclosure of certain personal economic interests as determined by the Conflict of Interest Code of the Department of Health Care Access and Information.

Working Conditions The Department of Statewide Hospital Planning and Development’s Los Angeles Office is located in a state-of-the-art facility within the Wells Fargo Center in the Bunker Hill area of downtown Los Angeles.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate: Recent experience and knowledge in the field of hospital architecture design and construction within the past five years.
Recent experience and familiarity with Title 24, including OSHPD requirements, as it relates to the construction of health facilities within the past five years.
Knowledge and experience in interpreting requirements governing design and construction of healthcare facilities in California.
Experience conducting research, producing and evaluating technical construction documentation.
Knowledge of California Accessibility Requirements.
Knowledge of fire/life safety compliance based on Title 24 of the CCRs.
Knowledge and experience as a project manager directing, reviewing and evaluating the work and resolving issues with a multi-disciplinary team, clients, contractors and other technical and professional staff.
Experience conducting construction observation of hospital or healthcare facilities.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a multi-disciplined team and handle stressful or sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
Ability to handle code enforcement issues with architects, engineers, and health care facility owners.
Good writing and oral communication skills.
Ability to reason logically and creatively to resolve problems and develop and evaluate alternatives.
