* *Position Summary*: The Knife Sharpener role within our manufacturing plants supports our overall production team as they drive production to the highest safety, quality and efficiency standards.
Sharpen different types of knives for the fresh cut.
Cleans, sets up, and sterilizes sharpening machinery and knives.
*What you will Do*: * Ensure compliance with and maintain all GMP/PPE/Safety, SQF, HACCP, OSHA & Sanitation guidelines and processes.
* Maintain an uninterrupted flow of knives, rings, halves by understanding production needs.
* Sharpen knives properly to prevent premature wear and or keep from overheating making metal brittle.
Also, the knife tip must be rounded to prevent punctures.
* Operate and maintain operating equipment including preventative maintenance Mixes water and detergents in container to prepare cleaning solution according to specifications.
* Lubricates machinery, cleans lint, dust, oil, and grease from machines, cleans screens and filters.
* Starts pump to force cleaning solution through sharpening machinery.
* Maintain accurate source documents and report all accidents and safety concerns to Department Leadership immediately.
* Knowledge & understanding of how to maintain a safe work environment, maintain a clean work area, and work safely around high risk, hazardous equipment.
* Communicate verbally & in writing to complete required documentation and maintain communication with Supervisors and Coordinators.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
*Minimum Qualifications*: * Knowledge of GMPs , Safety Guidelines and HACCP & Sanitation guidelines & processes * Mechanical aptitude (adjust fluids, minor machine adjustments) * Willingness to work in a cold environment.
* Reading, Writing, and Speaking English is preferred.
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
* Able to work a flexible schedule & Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

* Ability to understand plant KPI’s (production, quality & safety).
* Ability to be crossed trained & multitask in multiple positions.
* GED/High School Diploma Preferred.
