ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Cal Poly Pomona Foundation is currently searching for multiple Student Crew Members to work in Centerpointe Front of House.
ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year.
The Foundation offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality1500 management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.
The Foundation also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Foundation and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J.
Priest Scholarship.
In addition, the Foundation administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications.
The Foundation contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety): The Student Crew Member may be assigned one or various positions within the operation.
Various positions including: Dishwasher Cleaning and sanitizing all soiled dishes including but not limited to pots, pans, utensils, small wares, buckets, containers, and other equipment.
Responsible for the use and daily maintenance of commercial dishwashers and 3 pot sinks.
Maintaining dish room clean and organized Subject to safety training including chemical handling Cashier/Customer Service Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting all customers and assisting with questions Processing transactions using registers Communicating with guests Assisting dish room and dining room attendants as needed.
Maintains front cashier area clean and organized Dining Room Attendant Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting all customers and answering questions Carries dirty dishes from dining room to dish room Wipes tabletops and chairs with a damp sanitized towel Performs regular sanitation of all dining room equipment to include dispensers and drink machines Restocks all designated stations Maintain the cleanliness of the restrooms Sweep and mop as needed Food Preparation Prepare fruits, vegetables, meats, doughs, marinades and seasonings for the chefs and line cooks in advance of daily peak dining hours Consult both standard stocking requirements as well as pick lists prepared by executive chef to pull items from cold storage to thaw before preparation Thoroughly sanitize all kitchen surfaces as well as tools and utensils, and wash and clean all food prior to preparation Coordinate with wait staff to determine diner volumes in order to anticipate if and when more prep work needs to be done to accommodate increased demands Assist chefs with the preparation of dishes (including retrieving and preparing items for special orders) as needed QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent general education degree (GED); minimum of 6 months quick service restaurant experience is preferred, but not mandatory.
Excellent communication skills Obtain ServeSafe Certification within 30 days of hire date for individuals handling food items Ability to multitask Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance as well as adhere to schedule Work schedule is subject to change due to campus holidays and holiday break closures ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS: Conduct yourself in an honest, conscientious, and courteous manner at all times, showing respect for persons of all backgrounds, races, genders, interests, and abilities.
Develop individual respect for one another, respect for personal and the University as a whole.
Demonstrate an investment in student leadership.
