The Area Production Supervisor will guarantee that manufacturing remains a smooth and efficient process by monitoring employees and organizing workflows.
In a fast-paced environment like production, the supervisor is an integral part of the manufacturing process.
They must be competent and comprehend complex operations.
You should also be able to optimize day-to-day activities while minimizing the costs.
The goal is to ensure that production processes deliver products of maximum quality in a profitable manner and free of any safety risk.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSABILITITES General Duties: Establish priorities in accordance with given guidance and direction in areas that require attention.
Establish and maintain acceptable work practices among employees.
Ensures the execution and of maximum practices set forth by the Area-Production Manager or Production Manager to ensure the maximum efficiency, timely production and quality of goods produced.
Works closely with assigned department employees to help improve productivity.
Provide suggestions regarding staffing needs, equipment and materials needed to meet production demand.
Participate in Fiscal Year End Inventory count.
KPIs and Reporting: Delivery the KPI’s to ensure action planning for deviations from targeted results.
Review accuracy of processing records and report deviations.
Perform daily evaluation of department’s performance.
Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions and responding to requests.
Resources Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and following the production schedules.
Verifies that all required materials and supplies are sufficiently stocked and that all the equipment is up to date, safe, and in proper working order.
Assign/schedule employees to various areas of assigned department to ensure production needs are met.
Floor Presence: Perform periodical floor rounds; Active Supervisor Tours (ASTs) to evaluate shift condition and identify lead’s support areas.
Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.

(If applicable) Start Up, Changeover and Production Period Ending Performance: Ensure start up, changeover and end of the production period are done efficiently following procedures for sanitation cleaning and product changeover.

Supervise the processing area activities to ensure that the departments perform within established S.

’s, and results meet or exceed company goals.
Schedule: Review schedule plan, comparing actual versus planned, and justify variances.
Employee(s) must process (make) the daily production schedule created by the Planning department.

EMPLOYEE RELATIONSHIP Assure employees are always treated in a professional and respectful manner.
Meet with department personnel on areas needing enhancement or modification.
Provide daily feedback to employees on their performance and formally through written performance evaluations.
Be involved regarding disciplining employees.
Establish and maintain acceptable work practices among employees.
Ensure employees follow all company policies and procedures.
Communicates departmental goals and objectives on a daily/weekly/monthly basis to assigned department employees.
These goals will include production related goals such as output, safety, etc.
Covers/back up of Senior Supervisor when needed.
Participates in the recruitment, orientation, training, and coaching of employees.
Be readily available to workers to answer/address questions/concerns respectively.
Demonstrate excellent quality service for internal customers, which should be proactive, personalized, convenient and competent.
FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY Support all audits including product safety agencies and external auditors.
Report on quality defect issues and help determine necessary corrective actions to eliminate repetitive failures.
Ensure compliance with local, state and federal food safety laws including applicable parts of the Code of Federal Regulations, FDA Food Code and Good Manufacturing Practices Regulations, SQF system and industry best practice.
Adhere to quality standards to ensure product quality and Food Safety by following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP s), standard operating procedures (SOP s) Attends Food Safety/Quality training sessions.
Ensures manufactured product meets customer requirements.
Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of facilities by conducting daily, & quarterly major cleaning SAFETY ACTIVITIES Make a minimum of six safety suggestions a year.
Lead your people to zero incidents, through inserting the safety culture.
Before starting your regular work, search your working area 360 degrees for any unsafe condition, if you find any risk, fix it or look for the solution.
Manage your people follow this rule “360 degrees for any unsafe condition”.
Report and fix any production problem or safety risk.
Create and maintain a safe working environment by implementing good housekeeping standards for a clean department.
Enforce safety procedures, PPEs, food safety standards and company policies.
Documenting all injuries/incidents and reporting to Human Resources and Director of Operations.
Respond to workplace injuries by providing first aid for your crews or by taking employees to receive medical attention at our Medical Center.
Participate in, and support all safety program elements, directed towards meeting the plant’s TIR (Total Incident Rate) goal established each year.
This includes safety training, inspections, incident investigations, incentive programs, and any other safety-related activities.
Comply with all company policies and procedures including safety rules.
Manage any emergency evacuation or safety emergency.
SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITY X3: Assist with all X3 transactions within Production Department.
Monitor X3 activities by running key reports to assure accuracy.
In the event of a discrepancy need to solve or re-direct error to appropriate JED support.
Train employees within the department and other departments with X3 transactions to improve and ensure we take full advantage of the system.
Perform work completion daily to ensure immediate corrective action and action items/tasks are done.
Paycom: Approve all employee hours and make any adjustments for payroll in the computerized timekeeping system on time.
Ensure that schedules are accurate on Paylocity.
Monitor attendance of employees and submit absence request and other pertinent payroll documents to Senior Management.
Monitor department’s breaks and meal periods to comply with State Laws and Company Policies Raven: Ensure Raven (production performance application) data enter is accurate on a timely basis.
Ensure employees understand the meaning of the data generated by this application.
Alchemy: Ensure employees are trained in how to use the software.
Ensure Alchemy reports are accurate.
EMPLOYEE TRAINING Provide training for the safe and productive manufacture of quality products in a timely manner.
Daily huddles -turn trainings in by the end of the week.
Alchemy training, three topics monthly first two weeks of the month scheduled training, last two weeks for makeup training.
Employee cross training within the department to ensure efficiencies are kept at optimum levels.
Develop employee on the safe operation of equipment in the department, machine practices and inspection procedures.
OTHER DUTIES Schedule regular meetings with employees so they can be informed of future events, work schedules, and allow time for any feedback or questions.
Provide employees with work assignments, training, feedback, coaching, support, and development opportunities.
Work closely with the Production Manager to execute projects.
QUALIFICATION -Knowledge Skill and Abilities (KSAs) General Qualifications: Must demonstrate the ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety guidelines given by the Area-Production Manager.
Be able to accurately complete quality control forms and use a calculator to assist in tabulation of product.
Must demonstrate to follow the Yamamotoyama safety rules.
Knowledge Excellent knowledge of production planning and quality control principles Enterprise Resource Planning (X3) Systems and MS Office.
Use the scan gun if required.
Quality SOPs and GMP from Yamamotoyama.
Skills Communicates (verbally and written) with a high level of professionalism.
Identify and resolve conflicts in a timely manner.
Personnel leadership management.
Highly motivated person who is able to multi-task and handle a high volume of work with accuracy in a fast-changing environment.
Self-motivated and passionate individual, who has a high sense of urgency, thrives with a wide variety of work and can deliver consistent results on multiple priorities.
Ability to plan and organize assignments.
Manufacturing experience is required with general knowledge of manufacturing methods and equipment.
Ability to be an independent thinker and find solutions to problems.

Bilingual-English/Spanish preferred but not required.
Strong oral and written communications.
Well-developed interpersonal skills in communication and team dynamics.
Must have excellent organization and time management skills.

PHYSICAL JOB AND WORKING CONDITIONS Working Conditions Warehouse environment: due to materials used, there is exposure to dusty materials; utilization of standard warehouse equipment which includes forklifts, and other warehouse equipment.
As needed, employees must be able to use both hands to properly inspect and pack finished goods.
Usage of hands will be constant.
Up to 2 hours of continuous use of hands may be required, then employee will take mandatory work breaks and resume duties as a packer after break requirement has been fulfilled.
Employees will be required to do frequent bending and stooping to properly stack finished goods onto pallets.
Must be able to lift 50lbs.
At times, employees will be subject to extended standing.

The annual pay range for this full-time position is $65,000-$70,000.
Our pay ranges are guided by the discipline, level, and experience required.
Within the range, individual pay may vary based on additional factors, including your specific location, desired skills/ technical competency, relevant experience, and advanced education/ training.
