*THE FAMILY | *This delightful family of four is searching for an experienced nanny who can join their close-knit crew.
The parents describe themselves as compassionate, lighthearted, and deeply committed to raising their children with a healthy dose of silliness and laughter.
They believe in clear communication, gentle boundaries, and consequences that teach and help the children learn how to make good choices.
As the dedicated caregiver for their two young children (ages 2 and 5), you'll be a key player in their daily adventures.
Your role will extend beyond traditional childcare duties, as you'll also assist with tasks like meal preparation with the children, light housekeeping, and helping care for their lovable senior dog.
The family values reliability, flexibility and adaptability, as the parents work from home in their detached garage, with occasional off-site projects.
*THE DAUGHTER | *She turns five in May.
She is described as silly and very curious.
Asks lots of questions.
She’s got a lot of energy and loves to climb, ride her bike, and be physically active.
She loves to do projects and crafts and can really focus on a prepared activity.
She’s also very into pretend play.
She can be shy around new people and new environments, but warms up quickly.
She loves to bake, cook, and help with kitchen projects.
SCHEDULE: goes to preschool from 8:15 until 12:15.
Her last day of school is June 11.
She will do a combination of summer day camps and time at home this summer.
She will start kindergarten in September, from around 8:45 to 2:45.
Currently she goes to swim lessons Monday and Wednesday afternoons and gymnastics Tuesday afternoons.
*THE SON | *He also has a birthday in May.
He will be two.
He is described as goofy and very sweet.
He loves to be outside, going on walks and scooter rides.
He has an interest in coloring/painting/art.
He likes to be very tidy.
He is also becoming interested in helping in the kitchen (and most other things his older sister does).
SCHEDULE: takes one nap a day - around 1 PM.
He will start preschool in September from 8:30-12:30ish.
There are no known allergies or dietary restrictions.
*THE JOB DETAILS | *Provide exceptional care to the children.
Create age-appropriate activities and projects to engage the children.
Pick up and drop off from school and extracurricular activities or lessons.
Nurture and teach the children.
Set boundaries.
Encourage growth by fostering a warm, playful, and stimulating environment.
In addition to childcare, the nanny will be asked to empty the dishwasher / wash dishes, do laundry for the family, make beds, keep the kid’s rooms and play areas organized and tidy (with the help of the kids), do meal prep for the family dinners (chopping vegetables, prepping ingredients), prepare snacks for the kids, generally maintain order around the house, emptying trash when necessary and wiping down counters after use.
*THE PARENTING PHILOSOPHY | *These parents are driven to raise their kids to be good human beings.
They do so with a level of silliness and fun that endears both parents and children.
Potentially emotionally charged moments are regularly diffused with laughter and filtering things like boundary setting and teachable moments.
This allows the parent or caregiver to remain calm and appreciate such moments while getting to the heart of what they're trying to impart in a way that their children are genuinely receptive to.
The parents endeavor to take a compassionate but consistent approach to discipline.
They don’t use traditional “time outs” but implement clear, contextual consequences.
They deliberately avoid telling them that they are “being bad” and opt to describe the behavior as “not making good choices”.
They have found much more success in explaining the “why” behind a given rule or boundary than “because I said so.
” They encourage the children to use breathing techniques to regain control of their emotions.
They also don’t lecture when the children are in a non-receptive state.
Instead, they wait for the feelings to pass and then pose questions and prompt the children to describe what might be a better, age-appropriate choice to make in the future.
*THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: *Active and energetic, they can keep up with two very active young children and encourage and foster a safe yet playful and engaging environment.
They are high-energy and have many ideas for games, activities, and projects.
Creativity is a must! They are also patient and able to remain cool-headed.
The family wants their new nanny to have experience working with multiple children and navigating conflict resolution between siblings that doesn’t foster resentment.
They should communicate directly with the parents, being clear about wants and needs but also self- directed and proactive.
They have a strong command of English, both written and verbal.
Ideally, the nanny enjoys cooking and will include the kids in the kitchen.
The most important thing, in the end, is someone who can help make the household run smoother so the parents can focus on being the best parents they can be.
They respect professional and personal boundaries.
Flexibility to start earlier or end later when the parents need extra support during the summer or for school closures.
The family may request occasional weekends, overnight, and travel commitments.
Advance notice will always be given.
They are comfortable driving children in their own vehicles and have experience driving them in their previous positions.
The ideal candidate engages the children without the use of screens and also loves taking the kids out and walking to the local parks/playgrounds.
