*Overview:*
The Tax Accountant will prepare tax returns for individuals, companies, or organizations under the guidance of our certified public accountants.
Overall, this role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, tax regulations, and software tools like QuickBooks and Lacerte Tax.
Additionally, good interpersonal skills are important, as you'll interact with clients and may need to communicate complex financial information in a clear and understandable manner.
Adaptability and a willingness to learn are also valuable traits, given the variety of clients and tasks involved in this position.
_*Required Skills/Abilities/Education:*_
· Full-time Position.
Reports to our office in Diamond Bar, CA.
Off season hybrid when full level of competence attained.
· Minimum associate degree or equivalent work history.
· 3 years of tax preparation and accounting experience required.
· Strong social skills are essential for interacting with clients, as you'll need to gather information and provide guidance to ensure accurate tax filings.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to understand and apply tax laws and changes in the preparation process.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Accurate math and accounting skills.
· Proficient with Excel & Microsoft Office Suite.
· Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn Lacerte tax software and various accounting and form preparation software.
_*Income Tax Return Preparation:*_
· Preparing income tax returns for individuals using Lacerte Tax software.
Prior experience is necessary as well as understanding and knowledge of current tax laws.
· Must be able to prepare and complete a tax return with minimal supervision.
· Managing a higher workload during the tax season, often requiring overtime and Saturday work during March and April.
· Consults with clients to develop a basic understanding of their financial affairs and the scope of their tax liabilities.
· Reviews previous tax returns and financial documents to identify missing or incomplete information or documentation.
· Reviews all supplied financial information for accuracy.
· Calculates taxes owed or refunds due to client; consults tax law publications for guidance on unusual situations.
· Submits tax returns to CPA for review.
· Maintains understanding and knowledge of changes in tax law by reading professional literature or attending tax seminars and training courses.
_*General Accounting and Financial Statement (FS) Preparation:*_
· Utilizing QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online to manage the financial records of multiple small to medium-sized local businesses.
· Data entry, ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial data.
· Bank reconciliations to ensure that bank statements match accounting records.
· Posting month-end journal entries to accurately reflect financial transactions.
· Tying out liabilities and assets to maintain accurate balance sheets.
· Preparation of financial statements using Excel, including formatting and basic formula usage.
· Ensuring the accurate presentation of financial statements for each client, which is crucial for decision-making and compliance purposes.
_*Tax Filings:*_
· Filing sales tax returns, payroll tax returns, and other miscellaneous forms as required.
· Willingness to learn and adapt to different tax filing requirements for various clients.
_*Financial Audits and Reviews:*_
· Assisting in financial audits and reviews as needed, prior experience is not required.
· This may involve providing necessary documentation and support during audit processes.
_*Administrative Duties:*_
· Some administrative work, including answering the phone and greeting clients when necessary.
· Administrative tasks help maintain a smooth office environment and support client interactions.
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.
