SUMMARY
This Accountant I will perform a variety of entry level accounting assignments in the preparation, analysis, review, maintenance, reconciliation, and control of financial records and fiscal revenue and expenditures forecasting for Housing for Health and the Office of Diversion and Re-Entry programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs a wide variety of accounting assignments related to departmental accounting activities occurring within the annual accounting cycle including the annual setup and maintenance of accounting records, the classification of transactions, trial balance, closing, and end of period adjustments.
Performs accounts payable, accounts receivable and capital asset accounting.
Compiles, analyzes, and reconciles a variety of financial transactions, statements, and reports.
Assists in preparing complex accounting reports and schedules, including statements of revenue and balance sheets.
Assists in conducting cost surveys, revenue analyses, and other accounting studies and participates in writing reports of findings.
Assists in the audit of grant related expenditures for appropriate use and coding and compiles expenditure data and reports.
Does direct research to define the accounting requirements of laws and regulations.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Proficient in Excel, Access, and Microsoft Office suite

Ability to work collaboratively across functions.
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or equivalent majors with completion of 21 semester or 32 quarter units of accounting in an accredited college or university including at least two courses in advanced accounting subjects such as auditing, cost accounting, or governmental accounting.
Certificates/Licenses/Clearances
Successful clearing through the Live Scan process with the County of Los Angeles.
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
